SUDOKU SERIES 10
is a collection of works inspired by the Sudoku puzzle featuring fun with
numbers and dolls, and the juxtaposition of a Simple Image and Complex
Puzzle against a Complex Image and Simple Puzzle. In other words, I feel Sudoku
can look simple or complex depending on its comparison or relationship with
varying images.
The simple paintings of Japanese Kokeshi
dolls, of personal fondness, are mementos of superficial charm but underlying
meaning. I hope they appeal to children being
within their frame of reference, while hopefully leading them to complex
paintings inspired by Kandinsky.
Kandinsky was a genius at articulating language and logic though his
complex art. I look at his work and read his language, and for me, a perfect example of a Complex image. Children
may have seen adults playing Sudoku and hopefully would like to try Sudoku
themselves. Sudoku on any level is an
opportunity to apply patience and logic and would suit children confined to bed
rest. I also hope my art explorations appeal to adults whether or
notthey are Sudoku fans. .
